REPORTS of violence in Alcester have double in the last month, figures have revealed.
Data released by Alcester South Safer Neighbourhood Team shows the number of violent incidents in the area has risen from nine in May to 18 in June.
Officers say the recent warmer weather could have contributed to the increase which includes neighbour disputes, road rage and fights in pubs.
Also on the rise are reports of theft which surged from nine incidents to 16, while burglary of sheds, barns and stables doubled too.
However house burglaries plummeted from six to just one incident in June, while reports of anti-social behaviour dropped from 21 to 17.
Car crime, including theft and damage, is also an issue, with seven incidents taking place in Alcester, with a further two in Bidford and one in Oversley Green.
Insp Julia Brearly, for Stratford Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Alcester South Safer Neighbourhood Team’s priority to protect people from harm and tackling violent crime is a big part of achieving this.
“We are aware that nationally reports of violent crimes recorded has increased. This is due to a change in the crime recording process and Alcester still remains a very safe place to live and work.
“We will continue to work with our partners to address violent incidents which remain as a community safety partnership priority. We will monitor the situation and response as appropriate.”
