Woodrush High School students set to be next Dragon Den millionaires

BUDDING entrepreneurs at Woodrush High School have successfully pitched for hundreds of pounds from a Dragons’ Den millionaire to start their own businesses.

The students have already started trading in specially designed mugs, mason jars and glasses, gift hampers and golf merchandise in time for Christmas.

The eight Year Seven and Year Ten students got their enterprise break after their application for a £1,928.46 business start-up loan from the Peter Jones Foundation Business Tycoon in Schools initiative was accepted.

“It is a fantastic opportunity for these students to get their first taste of running a business,’ said Sasha Taylor, business teacher at the Wythall school.

“They are all very ambitious and to receive the full loan they applied for is a real achievement. Who knows – they could go on to become the next Peter Jones one day.”

A major incentive for students is that they will be allowed to keep the profits they make after returning the original loan.

The Woodrush pupils plan to sell to teachers, friends, family, neighbours or anyone who is happy to buy.

The pupils are hoping to do well enough to get the chance to mingle with royalty at Buckingham Palace.
