Is Now the Perfect Time for a Led Zeppelin Reunion?

Worcestershire-born Robert Plant has kept himself busy in the decades since Led Zeppelin’s split in 1980, with various lauded works and collaborations with other artists.

However, he’s most fondly remembered for the rock band that sold somewhere between 200 and 300 million records worldwide.

There have often been talks of a Led Zeppelin reunion, but it has never come to fruition. Now could be the perfect time for the remaining band members to reunite, as they could leverage modern marketing methods to reach new and old fans.

Rumours of Reunion Have Been Circulating for Years

Led Zeppelin were together from 1966 to 1980, but ended after John Bonham’s death. Since then, fans have been able to see Plant and Jimmy Page together various times, and they have also got together with John Paul Jones for various concerts and special events over the years. However, there has never been an official reunion. It appears, though, that there is a chance that Led Zeppelin could get together again and record new material at some point.

Indeed, there have been talks of a potential reunion since 2014 when Plant said he was open to getting back together with Page and Jones permanently. Page has also spoke about how he would like to create some new material with Plant, but noted how he would prefer to do it in an “unplugged way” according to Classic Rock Review.

Modern Entertainment Industry Would Allow Band to Thrive

There are countless instances of classic rock acts finding fame again among modern audiences thanks to the entertainment industry and other online outlets such as social media. This makes it the perfect time for Led Zeppelin to return, and potentially replicate the recent success that Guns N’ Roses enjoyed when they got back together in 2015.

One of the main ways that iconic rock bands have helped themselves get in front of more people has been through the release of officially branded slot games. For instance, the Saxon slot game at King Casino has helped the UK metal act find new fans in the booming iGaming industry. The offering features the band’s frontman on the thumbnail and the slot itself helps players learn more about the band.

Platforms like Instagram and YouTube have also acted as great ways for bands to get mass attention easily. When the key original Guns N’ Roses members reunited in 2015, they used these channels to promote their Not In This Lifetime tour. That went on to become one of the best-selling tours of all time according to Forbes, and there’s no doubt that leveraging these modern tools helped that to happen.

As one of the most successful bands of all time, Led Zeppelin would have a head start on some of these other acts if it opted to use the power of modern entertainment to reach new fans. There’s no doubt that, if the surviving members get together to tour and create new material, they could blow up massively among contemporary audiences.

Hopefully that will happen soon.
