THE OPPORTUNITY to explore a variety of gardens in Alcester town centre returns on Sunday, June 21 with the 34th garden walkabout.

Organised by Alcester and District Friends of Cancer Research UK, the popular event runs from midday to 5pm, offering members of the public an exclusive ‘behind-the-scenes’ look at the curated floral spaces behind many historic homes .

To slake thirst and assuage hunger, cream teas and a variety of homemade cakes will be served on the lawn of Alcester Baptist Church.

A band will be playing 60s music in one of the 18 gardens from 2pm to 3pm and organisers have said there will be a variety of plants for sale donated by local nurseries at ‘bargain prices’.

Visitors can also explore the award-winning Malt Mill Lane development and enjoy the serene surroundings of the sensory garden at St Nicholas’ Church.

Organiser Sue Blackburn said she was looking forward to welcoming visitors for a “peaceful day” exploring the Alcester’s “beautiful” gardens.

Other events organised by the group have made the total a whopping £250,000 towards finding a cure for cancer.
