A CRITICALLY acclaimed band are rolling into town to offer Worcester residents an evening of 1920s jazz classics.
The Temperance Seven will be performing at Huntingdon Hall on Friday, June 16 as part of their 2017 Grand Diamond Jubilee Tour.
Founded in 1955 by students at the Chelsea School of Art, the band soon evolved into a nine-piece ensemble with a light-hearted and humorous performing style, although they were all serious musicians.
But who could have predicted that a band which hit the top of the charts more than 50 years ago with hits in the 20s style, that was already 40 years out of date, would still be around in 2017, and still playing the same style of music?
The main difference now is that the band has a vast repertoire, including jazz classics from the past, original compositions and novelty numbers, and as they play, their enormous enjoyment is hilariously transmitted to their audiences through their zany Pythonesque humour.
Their Grand Diamond Jubilee Tour promises to be a sensational evening full of the band’s greatest hits, including You’re Driving Me Crazy, Charley My Boy, Pasadena, Sugar, Sahara, Runnin’ Wild, Thanks for the Melody and From Russia With Love.
