PET owners in Redditch who have anxious animals need not fear this Halloween.
A ‘Happy Dogs, Happy Days’ campaign has been launched by Lintbells, with some key advice for pet owners at this scary time of year.
If a dog is nervous around new people or groups of people, then large groups dressed up could be terrifying. It is recommended to shelter the dog from this and keep them occupied when new people come to the door.
Unusual new items will be around at this time of year too, and if a dog shows signs of being scared by new items slowly introduce them in a calm environment.
Owners are advised to never tell a dog off for barking at something new as they would simply be reacting and fearful.
If an owner wishes to dress their dog up for Halloween ensure the dog is comfortable. If the dog is very still and is reluctant to walk anywhere, it is most likely they have frozen out of fear. The dog is restricted by the clothing and other dogs might react differently to them as they look different.
