A REDDITCH man was applauded by NHS staff as he left intensive care yesterday after beating Covid-19.

Leighton Webster spent 59 days battling the deadly virus at the Alexandra Hospital and had a few ‘close calls’ during his stay,  according to the hospital trust.

He has now made a recovery.

The hospital trust shared a video of the emotional moment Mr Webster left intensive care which you can see below:

A trust spokesperson said: “Mr Leighton, aged 42,  had a few close calls, but thanks to care of the team on the unit at Alexandra Hospital, he’s now improved enough to move out of ICU.”
