ALPACAS, giant snails, miniature horses, toads, tortoises and wolf dogs – these were just some of the amazing animals greeting guests at the National Pet Show in Birmingham.

On November 4 the show welcomed hundreds of different animals, animal action displays, expert talks, celebrity appearances and shopping on offer for animal fans of all ages.

The show featured an array of talks and lectures too, with advice for new pet owners and curious animal lovers – with some celebrity experts on hand to answer questions too.

A series of talks, book signings and storytelling were also enjoyed in the Ark, with a session each day to budding vets and vet nurses by Supervet Professor Noel Fitzpatrick.

Youngsters learnt facts and how to handle animals ranging from hens and owls to mini beasts and dogs.

Fans of felines could also indulge in a specialist Cat Show where more than 100 cats, representing more than 50 breeds to see.

With the many different zones and the wealth if information and experiences on offer, our visit to the pet show proved to an educational treat -and one that comes highly recommended for animal-lovers of any age. It is a fantastic opportunity to learn about some more unusual pets and meet some exotic and extraordinary creatures all under one roof.
