Coming to Artrix: R&B legends Maggie Bell and Dave Kelly play local gig

Ross Crawford 11th Oct, 2018

TWO giants of British Rhythm and Blues grace the stage at Artrix next Thursday, October 18, when Maggie Bell and Dave Kelly come to Bromsgrove.

Scotland’s Queen of Soul and Stone the Crows founder member Maggie and London ‘slide guitar king’ Dave renewed their partnership in 2016 after a two year lay-off by playing some selected venues and festivals in the UK and Canada.

They’ve been touring the UK this year, again choosing just a few venues.

Although they both came from the blues/soul explosion of the late 1960s their repertoire is far broader than just that.

When they first got together in 2007 they both wished to sing ‘any song that took their fancy’ so the set includes folk, rock, country, gospel as well as blues and soul.

When Maggie and Dave take to the stage ‘anything can happen’ (and often does).

One promoter said: “I don’t know how they make such a sound with one guitar and two voices – it sounded like a full band.”

A wonderful evening of acoustic blues is promised, along with soul, good times and a little humour.

Tickets to see such legends are just £18, and are available at artrix.co.uk or by calling 01527 577330.
