ASTWOOD Bank Operatic Society’s next outing is to ‘The Zoo’, which is being staged with Arthur Sullivan’s better-known one-act show ‘Cox and Box’.
A double-bill of musical comedy awaits you as ABOS ‘plays on home turf’ (actually the church of St Matthias and St George in Astwood Bank) next Friday, and Saturday July 6-7.
It promises to be a fun-filled early curtain-raiser for the popular Astwood Bank Carnival.
Well-known local performers Ian Walton and Mike Faulkner, together with Paul Thompson as Mr Bouncer, present their award-winning ‘Cox and Box’, which they have staged at various venues on over 30 occasions, including three times at the Buxton Gilbert and Sullivan Festival.
The full company then provides the second act of this ‘game of two halves’ and transform the parish church into some sort of zoological gardens, complete with a bear pit, lion’s den and….gorilla.
The local stars this time are Ian Walton, Sophie Hill and Michael Hawkins, together with Michael Ferris, Eleanor Peberdy and Richard Needham, from slightly further afield!
The Director is Steve Skinner and musical director John Graham.
Tickets are available on the door, or via the ABOS on (01527) 63319 , or at firstname.lastname@example.org .
