Make way for the music as Indigo Arts bring The Big Busk to Redditch

Redditch Editorial 14th Jul, 2018   0

INDIGO Arts are bringing their Big Busk to the Kingfisher Shopping Centre on Friday, July 20, with an afternoon of music performances in Millward Square, followed by an evening gig by the Violettes, Xavier Reeves and Stuart Woolfenden.

From 1pm the shoppers can enjoy the live accompaniment of a number of local musicians, right through until the free evening gig which starts at 7pm.

Indigo are working with the Kingfisher team to develop regular arts events in the town centre, and they have run a series of popular Pop Up music events in empty shop units, as well as other successful activities.

This is their largest project yet, working with UK Event Services to turn Millward Square in to a stage and running a full scale music event in the evening with support from local musicians and showcasing talent throughout the afternoon.

They are hoping the evening will be well supported, with the Violettes and Xavier Reeves, hot from their success at the O2 Institute in Brum, together with their bands, and joined by the ever popular Stuart Woolfenden, who has managed to fit a night in his hometown in to a busy gigging schedule!

Project director Cathy Moss said: “Millward Square is the perfect space for a performance, surrounded by the stunning Paolozzi Mosaics which form a great backdrop for the amazing local talent we have on stage.

“This promises to be a great evening, and hopefully if it is well supported it will be one of many!

“We are really keen to get more music events going on in the town, and the Kingfisher team have been so great in getting behind what we are trying to do, and bringing the arts to the community. What better place to use as a venue?’

Indigo will be turning an empty unit in to a space for refreshments, where audiences can get a drink, and it is hoped other businesses in the centre will get involved too.

360 Play will also have Twizzle and Twirl on hand to join in with the performers during the afternoon!

The whole event will be free, with donations welcome to support the work of Indigo in the town.

Indigo still have some slots available for performers during the daytime, email Cathy on [email protected] for further details.
