A MIDSUMMER Mozart extravaganza is in the pipeline courtesy of Redditch Choral Society.

On June 22 at 7.30pm the choir will perform a wonderful feast of Mozart choral pieces in St Stephen’s Church, Redditch.

Director of music, Emily Tyrrell, will conduct all the pieces and and as usual the singers will be joined by a professional orchestra led by Peter Bridle, and four professional soloists.

Local singer Katie Leaver will sing soprano, Rebecca Mitchell-Farmer contralto, Dale Harris tenor and Paul Mocroft bass.

The evening will begin with Mozart’s beautiful ‘Ave Verum Corpus’ followed by ‘Laudate Dominum’ (sing praises to the Lord).

The orchestra will then perform Mozart’s ‘Eine Kleine Nachtmusik’ to close the first half of the evening.

In the second half the choir will perform the great composer’s deeply emotional, complex, beautiful and well-known Requiem which he wrote on his death bed.

Such a box of delights is sure to delight the audience as much as the choir who have been busy rehearsing since Christmas.

Tickets are £12 / £10 including refreshments and are available from the Christian Word Bookshop at St Stephen’s Church, Redditch, B97 4DY or by ringing the ticket secretary on 07794 362956.

The choir has a Facebook page which provides details about the choir, the concerts, how to join and where rehearsals take place.
