Moishe's Bagel brings pure energy and driving klezmer to world roots gig

MAD klezmer and more are promised as Scotland’s top five-piece world folk band Moishe’s Bagel land at Artrix this Saturday, June 22.

They are one of the most exciting bands around and in the 15 years they’ve been together, pianist Phil Alexander, fiddle player Greg Lawson, accordionist Pete Garnett, bass player Mario Caribe and percussionist Guy Nicolson have developed a magical musical chemistry that captivates audiences with its highly original yet traditional sound rooted in folk traditions of the world.

Each member brings unique sensibilities to the group: A driving klezmer groove from Phil, rootsy Scottish folk and tango from Pete, classical virtuosity and power from Greg, inspired Latin jazz flavours from Mario…all brilliantly complemented by a rich percussion sound featuring Indian tabla and Middle Eastern darabuka from Guy.

Formed in Edinburgh in 2003, Moishe’s Bagel continues to combine the energy and passion of world folk with the excitement and soul of improvisation.

The gig’s at 8pm and tickets are £18 on the door or £16 in advance via www.artrix.co.uk or on 01527 577 330.
