Plunge into the world of Gulp! for an interactive environmental fun time

Redditch Editorial 18th Oct, 2019   0

a FUN family show is tackling environmental issues in Alcester this Sunday, October 20.

Gulp! is the latest touring production from The Bone Ensemble and is set to delight families at The Jubilee Centre.

Gulp! is a moving, magical and interactive story dripping with fun, unexpected twists and turns, and watery surprises.

It’s grounded in science and powered by the imagination.

In an industry first, the players have collaborated with Severn Trent Water, the Environment Agency and scientists from the University of Birmingham to weave scientific knowledge into a compelling narrative engaging audiences with the environment and climate change in a positive, refreshing new way.

The story follows Maya as she learns more about the wider world.

Maya loves water!

Swimming in the sea, splashing in her paddling pool. But one summer’s day, she gets sucked up the bathroom tap and along the water pipes!

She arrives in a new land and sets off on an adventure plunging into rivers, and discovering oceans.

She encounters a flood and a drought, meets fascinating people and creatures who live in and by water and battles against unexpected villains.

Onstage, there’s a paddling pool full of water, a water pistol fight (don’t get squirted!) and the sounds of an aquaphone and African mbira plus there’s a loopstation for audiences to make watery sound effects and beat boxing rhythms.

The show is suitable for all families and children aged seven years plus. It’s highly non-verbal too, which makes is fully accessible to d/Deaf and non-English speaking audiences.

It’s at 2pm with a workshop following on from the production (for the first 30 sold tickets)

Tickets are £7.50 standard and £2.50 under 16s from 01789 766 084 or call into Alcester Town Council Offices, or turn up on the day at the time.
