A REDDITCH band are getting set to support James Blunt when his world tour comes to Birmingham next week.

Grafton Ash were invited to Blunt’s ‘The Afterlove Tour’ after singer-songwriter Jamie Lawson pulled out of the show at Arena Birmingham.

Grafton Ash, made up of Sam Dimmick (bass guitar), who hails from Redditch, Dan Roberts (vocals/guitar), Dan Blake (vocals/drum) and Stephen Ashford (guitar) have already shared the stage with the Feeling, The Fratellis and Reef since forming in 2015.

They have also played sold out shows at the Birmingham O2 institute and the London O2 Academy Islington.

The band said the chance to open up for James Blunt in Birmingham was ‘a dream come true’.

Dan said: ”It’s incredible news.

“We found out just last week and since then it’s been a whirlwind of preparation for the gig.”

The band, whose latest EP ‘Existing’ is out now, headlined Bromsgrove festival PerFest in August.

The event raised £5,000 for the bereavement maternity suit at Worcestershire Royal Hospital where Dan Roberts baby, Poppy, was born sleeping in May.

The James Blunt concert is on Tuesday night, November 21.
