ASTWOOD Bank Operatic Society ‘Bustin’ out all over’ with their latest production – ‘Carousel’.

The Rogers and Hammerstein classic will be running every evening at the Redditch Palace Theatre from Wednesday to Saturday, March 14-17 plus a Saturday matinee performance.

This musical theatre classic is a departure from ABOS’s normal light opera repertoire and is being produced in a fresh, contemporary style by new director Carole Massey.

It stars David Steele and Sophie Grogan who play the ill-fated lovers Billy Bigelow and Julie Jordan.

Well-known on the local musical theatre circuit these two experienced players guarantee the quality of the central story of a naive mill girl who falls for the charms of the seductive Carousel worker, with fateful circumstances.

David and Sophie also get some of the loveliest tunes in the show: ‘If I loved you’, ‘My Boy Bill, ‘What’s the use of Wond’rin’’.

Every Monday evening for the past few months the rehearsal hall has been ringing to the sound of ‘June Is Bustin’ Out All Over, The Carousel Waltz, ‘When I Marry Mr Snow’, ‘When the Children are Asleep’ and, of course, the blockbuster ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

Tickets are £15/£16 (children half price) available from ABOS on 01527 63319, or by emailing [email protected] or from the Palace Theatre.
