THE total number of Redditch schools forced to close by the bad weather has reached 25.
Many called time on the school day early as staff struggled to get ain nd there were fears for the safety of parents and children.
Notable exceptions included Batchley First School, Tudor Grange Academy, Abbeywood First School, Matchborough First School, Moons Moat First School, and Woodrow First School whose headteacher Richard Kieran paid tribute to the children, their parents, and staff.
“It’s been a normal school day for us; 93 per cent of the children came in and those who couldn’t make it all live further afield,” he said.
“I must pay tribute to the parents who have been very supportive and the staff, many of whom travelled a fair distance to get here.
“The children have been playing in the snow at break time, practicing for our nativity play and doing lessons.
“It’s been a normal school day.”
At Tudor Grange the school was forced to close early after the Bromsgrove bus companies they rely on to transport some students said they would not be venturing out after 2pm.
Without being able to guarantee the safe return of pupils the school had no option but to close.

At Holyoakes Field First School the school has not only been closed but their much anticipated Christmas Fayre has been cancelled.
