WELL over a thousand incidents were recorded in a 24-hour Tweetathon held by West Mercia Police last week to give to the public unprecedented access to all crimes and incidents they were called about.
From 7am on Friday (October 28) until 7am on Saturday (October 29) the force Tweeted anonymised details of all 999 and 101 calls logged and in this relatively short period of time, 1092 incidents were recorded, including 144 incidents of anti social behaviour, 41 road traffic collisions and 30 domestic incidents.
During this period, police also received reports of 124 concerns for the welfare of someone, 21 missing people and sevens sexual offences.
The tweetathon was carried out as part of Protect 2016 – a 10 day event in which both West Mercia Police and Warwickshire Police are showcasing the work carried out by officers and the police workforce.
