A REDDITCH charity which supports people with a range of disabilities has been gifted almost £300,000 to help continue a community hub to enhance the lives of its service users.

Where Next Association have been awarded the £280,133 from the Big Lottery Fund to aid in the creation of the Where Next Hub, a project that they hope will provide stimulating and life enhancing leisure activities and training to people from Redditch and surrounding areas who face barriers to community inclusion.

Each month more than a hundred people with a variety of disabilities attend The Hub, which has been running as a pilot at the centre for the last three years, taking part in a variety of activities personalised to the needs and aspirations of the participants.

Sessions at the Millsborough House hub include training courses supporting literacy and numeracy, healthy eating, life skills, as well as health and well-being. The hub will also offer craft activities along with social outings which will increase participation, identify needs and reduce isolation.

A spokesman from Where Next said: “The Hub has been a great success and is a valued service for the people who attend. We are pleased that funding from The Big Lottery will enable us to continue to offer subsidised activities to the people of Redditch for the next five years”.

The Big Lottery Fund is supporting 64 projects totalling more than £2.8 million across the West Midlands, giving funding to a diverse range of projects that enable people to improve their skills, meet new people and strengthen their communities.
