50 already snapped - but there's still time to enter our Baby of the Year competition

Harry Leach 15th Mar, 2020

THE 20th anniversary edition of the Redditch Standard Baby of the Year competition has got off to a cracking start.

In the first two days alone professional portrait photographer Andrea Powell has taken the pictures of more that 50 entrants at her mobile studio by The Works and Primark in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre.

The 2020 competition is bigger and better than ever and the event runs until Saturday, March 21 (closed Sunday) so there’s plenty of time left to get involved.

And given the current situation with coronavirus, she’s got plenty of handwash gel available so parents, guardians and babies stay nice and safe too.

As always our competition is absolutely free of charge to enter.

There are two age categories, 0-18 months and 19 months to three years.

Prizes will be awarded for winners and runners up – a 20”x16” canvas print and Jellycat toy for first place and a 12”x10” canvas and Jellycat toy for second.

After the portraits have been taken, parents and guardians are given a return date to select their favourite photograph and these will then be entered into the competition.

Andrea will also be offering a selection of the prints to buy at an extremely competitive price, but you are under no obligation whatsoever to do so.

All our beautiful babies will be then be placed on the Redditch Standard website at www.redditchstandard.co.uk for you to cast your votes – please note no child’s name will appear on the website.

The ten babies with the most votes will go through to the final, plus ten more babies selected by our panel of judges.

Employees of Bullivant Media Ltd and their families are not eligible to enter and the editor’s decision is final.
