PEOPLE across Redditch who have always wanted to put on an art event but not had the cash to do so are being urged to apply for a new grant.
Reimagine Redditch is offering five £10,000 grants to enable five co-ordinated projects which bring together borough artists and community organisations.
They will collaborate on their own event or series of activities which culminate in their own showcase event by the end of March.
The Community Matter Awards funding is aimed at people or groups who have always wanted to support the people in their area and help them try something new.
Reimagine Redditch wants to hear about ideas, whether it be carnival, theatre, making music, nature trails, an exhibition or just more creative activities and the areas where they would be put on.
Dr Richard Bromhall, Reimagine Redditch’s programme director, said: “What we’ve discovered through conversations as we’ve been out and about talking with the people of Redditch, is that plenty of people here have really great creative ideas but they’re just lacking the resources to make them happen.
“So, we’ve developed our Community Makers Awards, which will fund Redditch residents to develop their own work that is relevant to their own communities.”
Reimagine Redditch is the borough’s dedicated creative and cultural programme.
It is a Creative People and Places programme, funded by Arts Council England, as a project of Bromsgrove and Redditch Network (BARN).
Organisers say it is working in Redditch to develop and deliver creative activities for everybody, but especially for people who do not regularly take part in creative activities.
To apply for the Community Matters Awards funding, visit reimagineredditch.org where there are application forms, information packs and examples of completed materials.
Applications close at 5pm on July 31.
