REDDITCH’S very ‘Lord of the Rings’ has done it again – this time with two new calendars on Benches of Redditch and Post Boxes of Redditch.
Featuring 12 great photos, each one elevating the ordinary into something to celebrate, they’re sure to find a home under Christmas trees the length and breadth of the country – and beyond.
Kevin Beresford first hit the headlines with his bestselling calendar ‘Roundabouts of Redditch’.
Since then he’s become an international hit with people from around the world snapping up his calendars of Redditch.
“I think the world’s tired of calendars firemen’s six packs and One Direction and the like.
“My calendars are more like no direction,” said Kevin, a proud member of the Dull Men’s Club (https://www.dullmensclub.com/).
“I last did a calendar of post boxes two years ago and this new one features different ones.
“I really like the Victorian post boxes, they’re few and far between and this one has my favourite, a wall one on Evesham Road.”
He says it’s that focus on the ordinary which brings the appeal.
“I like to take a slice of life no one is bothered with.
“Artists have always focused on the mundane, Van Gogh on a pipe on a chair, Andy Warhol on a can of soup.
“I used to drive my ex-wife potty. We’d be relaxing on holiday in Spain and I’d say ‘I’m just nipping out to shoot some Spanish roundabouts’,” said Kevin, president UK Roundabout Appreciation Society.
His calendars offer a unique view on the ordinary.
“If you happen to come from Redditch it’s nice to know or guess where a particular bench of post box is,” said Kevin.
“It’s a talking point, and it’s unique.”
