A chance for families in Redditch to remember loved ones

Redditch Editorial 9th Dec, 2017   0

FAMILIES in Redditch who have lost someone special are invited to take a moment and light a lantern for their loved ones next weekend.

On Saturday (December 16) Touchstones Child Bereavement Support charity will be holding the short lantern walk around Morton Stanley Park giving those who have lost someone a chance to remember and reflect together.

The event starts at 5.20pm when lanterns can be collected before the everyone sets out at 5.45pm.

The wheelchair-friendly walk will include a stop where a shared silence of remembrance will take place.

After this, the group will head back to the car park for hot drinks and a visit from Father Christmas and his sleigh.

Vicki Quarton, bereavement services director at Touchstones, said: “Christmas can be very hard when someone you love has died.

“We never forget these precious people, and a short lantern lit walk is a lovely way to remember them.

“Touchstones works to support families and children through some hard times.

“Any child can receive support when someone they love dies, and we work in all the schools in Redditch and Bromsgrove when we are needed, providing one to one support and the chance to meet other children and young people and discover that you are not the only one. It really does make a huge difference.”
