OFFICERS from the Court Leet in Alcester are preparing for a flipping good time as the town hosts its annual Pancake Day races.
To celebrate Shrove Tuesday (March 4), people of all ages are invited to battle it out in the race on Alcester High Street, flipping their pancakes to reach the finish line.
Children and adults will begin the race near the post office, while toddlers will start at the half-way point – and other organisations and businesses, including the town’s pubs, will also be tackling the route.
The winners of the race, which kicks off at 12noon, will be presented with prizes from the Court Leet’s High Bailiff Tracy Parkes at St Nicholas’ Church, with prizes including chocolate Easter eggs, lollies, cash and certificates.
Alcester Court Leet – who have been organising the races since the early 70’s – are hoping for another enthusiastic day, come wind, rain or shine.
