RETIRED residents in Alcester raised a flag to celebrate the 70th wedding anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh.
A special coffee morning fit for royalty was held on November 23 at Alcester’s Jackson Place, a McCarthy and Stone development for the over 60s.
Members of the local community were invited to visit the development on Fields Park Drive to enjoy a piece of cake and celebrate Her Majesty and Prince Phillip, who were married on November 20 1947, marking their platinum wedding anniversary.
The celebrations at Jackson Place also included a quiz with a royal twist and donations were collected on behalf of older people’s charity Royal Voluntary Service.
