BIG-HEARTED Redditch Lions have donated a shed to help boost the mental health of young people at the community allotments off Bridge Street.
The shed is part of a project by Mental Health Action Group Redditch (MHAG) at their community allotment.
“We have come together to promote the idea of planting, harvesting and cooking for the ‘from field to fork’ initiative,” said Sue Yeng of MHAG.
“The idea is to promote working outdoors with the soil, with Nature to improve mental health and to boost the confidence of young people who have been cooped up in the lockdowns.
“So as well as growing crops we’re hoping they will grow new skills and a new sense of wellbeing.
“We really appreciate the contribution from Redditch Lions and we’re hoping that, thanks to their help, more people will discover the joys of gardening.”
Mike Andrews, president of the Lions added: “We were delighted to help this fantastic cause which will bring long lasting benefits to the young people of Redditch.”
