A SPECIAL vintage tea party is set to showcase a handmade wall hanging celebrating 100 years of Redditch history.
On October 28, guests are invited to the vintage tea at St Luke’s Memorial Hall (The Bridge) from 2pm until 4pm to see the progress of the “Redditch Remembered in Thread” wall hanging in all its glory.
“Remembered in thread” is a project set up in 2014 to mark the Centenary of the First world War and the 50th Anniversary of Redditch New Town. A Community Group was formed Redditch Recorded Through Arts to create a wall hanging showing the past 100 years and the changes that have happened in that time.
With the River Arrow running through the centre joining the old town with the new, it will also include history, events and places captured in embroidered memory bubbles.
There will also be a quilt raffle in aid of Cancer Research, alongside stalls and displays in the newly renovated hall.
