A435 camera hope to focus on average speeds through local villages

PLANS to site average speed cameras along the A435 are under consideration by Warwickshire County Council.

Cash for the proposal could be forthcoming through the Government’s Major Roads Network initiative.

The A435, which links the the M42 with the A46 at Alcester, is a major route for vehicles cutting through to the M5.

So great is the volume of traffic along the road that at the Priory Square bottleneck in Studley the air quality falls well below national guidelines and there is consistent and high noise pollution.

People living along the road from Mappleborough Green through Studley to Coughton this can only get worse when the Redditch Eastern Gateway development opens.

On Tuesday night Studley Parish Council voted unanimously to write to local MPs Rachel Maclean, Dadhim Zahawi and Sajid Javid as well as the leaders of Stratford District Council and Warwickshire County Council calling for action to ease the traffic problems for residents living along the length of the A435 and highlighting the air quality issue.
