THE Alcester branch of the Royal British Legion is launching its Poppy Appeal at the Alcester Methodist Church next Saturday October 27.
Running from 11am to 1pm it will include a raffle, stalls, refreshments, two re-enactors with vehicles, as well as a special mystery guest.
Last year’s Poppy Appeal raised a branch record of £17,000, however it is hoped with 2018 marking the centenary of the end of World War One even this amount can be beaten.
The Legion is appealing for volunteers to help at the event and would also like to borrow a gazebo for the day.
Just contact Dave Malin on 01789 400427 if you can assist – anyone who wants to run a stall at what is sure to be a busy launch should contact Dave on the same number.
Poppy Appeal collectors will also be out in force around the town and stationed in Waitrose.
