AN ALCESTER businesswoman has won a Ladies First Professional developments award, a ceremony honouring ladies in the Warwickshire and wider areas.
Sarah Day, the creative director of One Day Film Productions, has been awarded Unique Business of the Year.
The company offers video services for couples getting married, newborn baby keepsake videos and commercial branding videos.
Sarah used to work for her family business, Johnsons Coaches but turned to her passion of creating keepsake films during maternity leave and the business has escalated from there.
She said: “I am still lost for words and was in utter shock when I heard my name being announced.
“I had set my sights on winning an award one day but after only changing careers and setting up my business two years ago.
“I never dreamt that I would have achieved this so soon.”
Getting her business up and running proved a challenge, but winning the award has boosted her confidence.
“At the moment it’s just me, editing in my little home-office but my goal is to become one of the leading wedding videographers in the country and to eventually have a team working with me.
“Running your own business can be hard, especially when starting out and you have to wear multiple hats, some of which you have no or very little experience in. “I have encountered set backs and massive learning curves which meant that imposter syndrome sometimes got the better of me but winning this award has given me the motivation to keep pushing onwards and upwards.
“With video becoming more popular as a marketing tool, I hope that this will put One Day Film Productions in a noticeable position to stand out from its competitors.”
