Alcester care home volunteer scoops top award

A CARE worker from Alcester has won Volunteer of the Year award for the North Division in the Barchester Care Awards.

Malcolm Jackson started volunteering at Cherry Trees care home in 2020.

He started looking after the gardens in the grounds, and then began helping out the maintenance team by doing odd jobs around the home.

A spokesperson for the home said: “Malcom is happy to turn his hand to any task, from decorating and gardening to building sheds and laying our slabs.

“Malcolm also loves to spend time chatting to the residents and last Christmas he even dressed up as Santa.”

Malcolm added: “I was extremely proud to be Volunteer of the Year – it was a great experience, one I’ll never forget and still look forward to carrying on all the work here at Cherry Trees.”
