A STAFF member at Cherry Trees Care Home in Alcester is lacing up his trainers after he was selected for a place in the Great North Run to raise funds for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.

Greg Wilk is the head of maintenance at Cherry Trees and has worked at the home for more than ten years.

As part of his training, Greg runs to and from work each day.

He is running to raise cash for the many good causes supported by Barchester’s Charitable Foundation because of the difference it makes to the lives of people across the country.

Debbie Osborne, Cherry Trees’ general manager, said: “Everyone at Cherry Trees was keen to show Greg support on his adventure, especially the residents who enjoy hearing all about his training.

“Barchester’s Charitable Foundation is a great cause that helps many people in need, particularly lonely older people, which is a cause very close to the hearts of all our staff and residents, and we are really proud of Greg and his efforts to make a difference.”

Barchester’s Charitable Foundation supports older people and other adults living with a disability or mental health problems by helping them to connect or re-connect with others in their local communities.
