HOUSING chiefs in Alcester have buttoned up their overalls to paint the community fencing in time for The Queen’s birthday celebrations.

Chairman Derek Dyas and company secretary Craig Felts headed the team of volunteers from Warwickshire Rural Association (WRHA) who took to the streets on Friday (April 8) and used more than 200 litres of paint to cover the barriers of 80 homes and fences in the community.

The staff were joined by residents as well as professional painters, JR Allens and Sons to ensure the job was done properly.

Mr Felts said: “It will make a huge difference to the Alcester estate, giving it a fresher and brighter look, while bringing the whole community together in the process.

“Together, we can achieve something which we can all be very proud of.”
