Alcester Male Voice Choir appealing for new members at open evening

Redditch Editorial 11th Sep, 2023   0

THE Alcester Male Voice Choir will once again be holding its open evening to encourage more men to join their ranks.

Although new members are welcome at any time, the open evening is an annual event, specifically to encourage potential new members to come along, meet the music team, socialise with existing members and get a real feel for the buzz and excitement experienced when singing in a choir.

Judith Land BEM, the choir’s founder and director of music, said: “We are always looking for new members – we never put people through stressful auditions and we welcome men of all abilities from the experienced to those who are trying it for the first time.

“Once a new member joins there is no pressure. We are a friendly group, and help them to settle in.

“All we ask that they commit to the weekly rehearsals and only when they feel ready, take part in the concerts.

“I guarantee they will have fun, enjoy some wonderful experiences and feel healthier for singing on a regular basis.

“So whether you sing high, sing low or sing somewhere in between, come along and meet the choir.”

The open evening takes place at 7.30pm on September 20 at the Eric Payne Centre in St Faiths Road, Alcester. Gentlemen interested should call Judith on 07886 139781.

Ahead of the open evening, representatives of the choir will be in the Kingfisher Centre, Redditch, from 9am to 2.30pm next Saturday, September 16, giving any men who are interested a further opportunity to discuss the choir and find out what its like to be a member.
