ALCESTER pupils have been getting dirty on a farm to de-stress after their SATs.
The children from Our Lady’s Primary School spend time helping two local farmers, Jonathon Edgar and Mark Craythorne, look after their young animals.
Gannow Farm in Redditch opened its doors to the public for the first time over the Easter holidays and was an overnight success with local families wanting to embrace the spirit of spring.
The hugely positive feedback from visitors then spurred the Gannow farm experience to collaborate with leading national farm education charity LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming Farming) Education to begin delivering bespoke curriculum linked activities for schools.
Our Lady’s Primary School was the first to sample the delights of this fantastic interactive experience.
Elizabeth Lake, education consultant for LEAF Education, said: “We are delighted to have another real working farm that can allow schools to visit, get involved and learn first-hand everything involved in caring for livestock with consideration for the environment.”
