Alcester Round Tablers dig deep to install lifesaving kit in heart of town

A NEW defibrillator has been installed in Alcester thanks to Alcester & Stratford District Round Table.

The group was approached by 1st Alcester Scout Group for a donation towards the life-saving equipment at the Scout Hut and the Tablers were delighted to be able to offer the full amount plus a heated cabinet to hold it.

The group held its first ever beer festival at the venue in the summer and money raised from that event and the annual street market pig roast was used to purchase the unit.

The defib was bought and installed within two weeks and joins many others in the town.

Matt Payne, chairman of Alcester & Stratford District Round Table, said: “It’s such a valuable asset to have for the town of Alcester and we’re delighted to have been able to fund this defibrillator with funds raised from our events.

“We strive to put the money we raise back into our community so the people who support our beer festival and pig roasts know they are supporting local charities and good causes.”

Tim Cronin, 1st Alcester Scout Group Leader and Alcester Community First Responder, said: “We appreciate the Guide and Scout headquarters stands in a unique position at the heart of the town.

“For sometime we have felt a defibrillator was something we should strive for.

“We are delighted Alcester & Stratford District Round Table agreed to make this happen.”
