ALCESTER’S rising folk-pop prodigy Euan Blackman has launched his first single from his upcoming EP ‘Thunderstorms’.
The single, ‘Butterfly’, is out this Friday (April 26), and marks the beginning of a monumental year for Euan.
Working closely with award-winning producer and mix engineer Tarek Musa, he expects to release his first EP for Ripe Records in the summer.
The EP showcases his explorative balance of acoustic guitars and electronic elements comparable to the likes of Big Thief and Bleachers.
Euan said: “Butterfly is about accepting your flaws as an individual.
“I love songwriting that seems upbeat, but lyrically comes from a much darker place.
“I feel I’ve taken my sensibilities as a folk-storytelling-songwriter and placed it into a whole new indie and alternative world with this EP project.
“Everything is much more ambitious sounding. I’m on a sonic path that I’m excited to continue to grow and develop.”
Euan’s work has been supported by BBC Radio 6 Music, Billboard, Time Magazine and consistently playlisted by Spotify UK.
He has also been praised by many of his heroes including acclaimed folk artist Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Radio 1 Tastemaker Jack Saunders and Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda.
