THIS year both Alcester Town Hall and Alcester’s Roman Museum are taking part in the Heritage Open Days festival on Sunday, September 13.
Both will be open for visitors to explore the history of the town. Other venues will be open for virtual tours.
Chair of the Town Hall and the Museum, Susan Juned, said: “Our trustees and volunteers are looking forward to welcoming visitors who want to explore the wealth of history in this lovely town.
“Come and explore our venues, walk through the town, then have a coffee at one of the many cafes in the town.”
Ger colleague Richard Osborne added: “As we are unable to be open for visitors this year, the recently restored St Nicholas Church and its 15th Century timber framed Church House in Butter Street have instead arranged virtual tours with historical content.
“These can be viewed from links available on the Heritage Open Day website pages: https://bit.ly/3hVvvbb, and https://bit.ly/3jHFm4V .”
For the Town Hall and Roman Museum, visitor numbers on-site will be limited to meet social distancing guidelines.
Regular cleaning and clear signage will also help ensure both visitors and organisers stay safe and can enjoy a relaxing day out.
Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture; in 2019, more than 5,700 events welcomed over 2.4 million visitors across the country.
The event is free and taking place in Alcester on Sunday, September 13 from 10am to 4pm.
