SET sail with Richard Porteous when he delivers a talk on ‘The Royal Navy – From Sail to Steam and Wood to Iron’.
Covering 200 years it’s the story of technical and scientific improvements in ship building and propulsion from the late 1700s into the early 1900s and is sure to attract a lot of interest from across the region.
It’s also about the scientists and inventors who made this happen and those people affected by their discoveries, including some of Richard’s family.
The talk is part of Redditch Military History Society’s regular monthly get togethers and is on Wednesday, October 17 at 7.30pm in the church hall of The Bridge Church – St Lukes – on Evesham Road, Headless Cross, Redditch.
November’s meeting will feature a talk by Ron Gallivan on The Home Guard.
