AN exhibition of Transport in Redditch in the 1950s and 1960s will be held at St Philip’s Church, Webheath from May 12-15.
Featuring everything from Royal Enfield motorcycles to coaches, the railways, Midland Red and Regent Motorways, it’s an opportunity to step back in time and admire what are now classics.
The exhibition will also feature some old movie footage of a one-time vicar of St Philip’s driving around Webheath in his traction engine.
Saturday, May 12 at 3pm will also feature a talk by railway enthusiast Philip Jarvis on the Redditch rail line.
Spanning the decades with digital slides and old movie clips he’ll be taking the audience on a trip back to the days when trains ran through and on to Studley, Evesham and on to Weston, to the present day and the building of the ‘loop line’ at Alvechurch which gave Redditch its three trains an hour service.
Entry to the exhibition will be £2 for adults, £1 for children.
