STAND for boarding at Forge Mill Museum this summer as sets sail on the ocean waves for a swashbuckling experience for the whole family.
Visitors can enjoy the museum’s latest exhibition – Pirates Fact or Fiction which runs from July 22 to September 3.
It takes visitors on a journey through the golden age of pirates complete with fascinating facts about the ships they sailed and the lives these popular rogues lived before testing your knowledge with fun inter-active quizzes.
The exhibition will also feature costumes from TV and film as well as historical reproductions.
Plus there will also be a treasure hunt trail around the grounds for budding bounty hunters to try and find Bordesley Bill’s loot.
As well as the exhibition, there will be a special Pirate Weekend on July 29-30 with the chance to meet pirate crew, the River Rogues.
Plus there will be a fantastic puppet show for the whole family as well as sailor knot and rope work demonstrations, shanty singing and a blacksmithing demonstration.
This event runs from 11am – 4pm.
“The school holidays can seem like a very long time when you’re trying to fill every day with something fun,” said Councillor Pat Witherspoon, whose portfolio covers leisure services.
“So why not bring your children down to enjoy some pirate adventures. Excite their imaginations with treasure, swashbuckling sword fights and plenty of fun!”
Throughout the summer, the museum will be hosting other pirate themed events including Pirate Lego workshops, inter-active pirate food demonstrations, Pirate Science workshops and Condensed History Pirate Shows.

Entry to the exhibition is included in the normal admission price to the museum. However, for Redditch residents on Wednesdays only (when museum entrance is normally free) there is a separate charge of £2 for adults and £1 for children to visit this exhibition.
