All aboard with Redditch Model Railway Club

Redditch Editorial 26th Jun, 2017   0

IT was all aboard for the Severn Valley Railway as members of Redditch Model Railway Club continue their 50th anniversary celebrations.

Using the power of the internal combustion engine, they charted a coach which took them to Kidderminster for the day out and members enjoyed a relaxing day travelling up and down the line.

The club was formed on June 1, 1967 at the White Hart in Headless Cross and since then has gone from strength with over 25 members and meets twice a week in its own club rooms in the town.

Enthusiasts have constructed a host of model railway layouts which over the last 50 years have been exhibited as far and wide as Cornwall, Cumbria, York, Ipswich and even the South of France.

Plans are well advanced for the annual model railway exhibition which takes place on September 16-17 at Trinity High School which has every chance of being a really special show marking the club’s half centenary.

Details of the club can be found at www.redditch-mrc.com
