REDDITCH pals Samantha Smith and her friend Vikki Holt are stepping out on two fundraising half marathons with a twist.
Sam, who is shielding, will be walking a half marathon in her flat – and to make sure she completes every inch of the 13 miles and more it will all be screened on Zoom.
Vikki meanwhile will be covering the same distance but in the great outdoors, starting from outside St Stephen’s Church in the town centre and finishing at Sam’s flat.
“There will be music and fun and to make it a bit more interesting I will also be spending some of the time waking backwards!” said Sam.
The aim is to raise as much money as possible for St Stephen’s Church.
And the two admit they’ve been inspired to step out on their challenges after attending an Alpha Course run by Holy Trinity Redditch.
“I am so grateful to have found my faith that I wanted to do something to give thanks and help my local church,” said Sam.
“To my surprise no question was forbidden or ignored and the course has helped me to realise that we all have our own unique journey.
“I would heartily recommend the Alpha Course to anyone including those who currently have no religious beliefs as we learn a lot about ourselves by participating and you may be surprised.”
Sam and Vikki’s event starts from 9am on Thursday, October 8. To join Sam, log on to Zoom and put in Meeting ID 869 2571 8260
