Alterations to Christmas bin collection days in Redditch announced

Correspondent 3rd Dec, 2018

RESIDENTS in Redditch who would be due a bin collection on the three Christmas and New Year bank holidays are being advised to put their bins out for some special Saturday collections.

Collections due on Tuesday, December 25 will now be on Saturday December 22, those due on Wednesday December 26 will be collected on Saturday, December 29, and those for Tuesday, January 1, 2019 will be on Saturday, January 5.

There will be no change to collections due on Thursday and Friday, December 27-28, which are not bank holidays.

Guy Revans, head of environmental services, said: “We’ve had to make some changes to the collections due to the bank holidays, so we have some replacement Saturday collections.

“Please have your bin out by 7am. There are no more planned changes.

“Just as a reminder, if we do end up getting the kind of snow or ice that means we cannot get to you on your collection day please leave your bin out, and we will return as soon as we can.

“If that happens we’ll issue regular advice on our website as usual.”

On average six 6 bin crews visit around 9,000 homes a day in the borough collecting recycling or residual waste.

Up to date information about bin services is available from www.redditchbc.gov.uk/bins and updates are added to Facebook and Twitter – just look for Redditch Borough Council.
