CYCLING superstar Ava Thornewell has raised a staggering £585 to combat prostate cancer – by doing a 50 mile bike ride.
The seven year old Crabbs Cross Academy pupil was inspired to take on the task after being touched by how prostate cancer had affected her great grandads.
So, supported by proud mum Natalie, dad Nick Richards and brother Harry, aged four, she got pedalling for the cause.
“Ava’s been bike riding daily through May to help raise money for this charity – she had to do 50 miles and has just completed it,” said Natalie.
The family live on Church Hill and Natalie and Nick took it in turns to ride with her, or all three rode together.
On the way they smashed Ava’s original target of £100 by 585 per cent.
Natalie added: “Ava raising so much money is amazing!
“Raising money for such a good cause, helping to find a cure is the most rewarding thing ever.
“We are so proud of Ava and how much she has raised.”
