THE annual estimate of the number of rough sleepers in Stratford district is to be held this week.
The count is taking place on Thursday, November 22.
All local authorities have to submit an annual figure to central government indicating the numbers of people sleeping rough in their area on a ‘typical’ night.
People in the district are being asked to let the Council know of any rough sleepers in their area.
They are classed as: people sleeping, about to bed down (sitting on or in, or standing next to their bedding) or actually bedding down in the open air – on the streets, in tents, doorways, parks, bus shelters or encampments.
It also covers people in buildings or other places not designed for habitation – such as stairwells, barns, sheds, car parks and cars.
To get advice or to report a rough sleeper contact the District Council’s Housing Advice Team on 01789 267575 or email [email protected]
