Annual Redditch Music Festival falls victim to Covid-19 pandemic

THIS year’s Redditch Music Festival has been cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The hugely popular event, which in previous years had been held at Morton Stanley Park, had been scheduled to be held in Arrow Valley Park this year with plans to make it bigger and better than ever through a Council link-up with Royal Enfield.

The aim had been to make it more accessible and to create a festival of music and motorcycles which would attract an audience from across Europe.

The decision to cancel the event, along with other smaller events, has been made in line with Government legislation and guidelines.

Borough Councillor and executive member for leisure, Mike Rouse said: “We’re still excited about this event which we plan to hold next year instead, which is quite fitting as Royal Enfield celebrates it 125th anniversary.

“Officers have been constantly reviewing the schedule of council events in accordance with Government advice and I wholly support the decisions they are making in the best interests of our residents, especially as the event was going to have Europe-wide appeal.

“And of course, just because we can’t get together in person, doesn’t mean we can’t meet up virtually and we are looking at options around this.

“Our team will keep you updated on any other changes to our programme, including the Bonfire celebrations.”
