THERE will be fun for all in Alcester this weekend with the return of the annual Court Leet Street Market on Sunday, June 14.
People across the community are encouraged to get into the spirit of the Mardi Gras-themed day, with prizes for the best fancy-dress, lots of live music, stalls, and general entertainment.
The market, which runs from 1pm to 5pm will be opened by horse trainer Dan Skelton and family.
The day starts with a fancy dress competition, which will be judged at 12.30pm at Centenary Field off Gas House Lane.
Categories are 0 to five years old, six to 10 years old, 11 to 16 years old, and adult & adult groups.
This will be followed by a parade up to St Nicholas’ Church.
Prizes for the best outfits will be awarded by Dan Skelton on the church green just after the opening.
The best shop window display will be judged this afternoon (June 12), with the best stall competition announced on the day.
Live music from local acts will take place throughout the event at various locations in and around the High Street.
The historic Alcester Town Hall will open during market day, and visitors are encouraged to drop in and view the hammer beam roof upstairs in the Bailiff’s Hall and other historical items downstairs.
All proceeds raised by the Court Leet during the event go towards the High Bailiff’s charity fund for distribution to local good causes in October.
