THE ANTI-VIOLENCE Bee was in Redditch today as part of its extensive UK tour.

The Bee was in Church Green from 11.30am to 1.30pm and Woodrow Centre from 2pm to 4pm.

It is the first UK sculpture to be made completely entirely out of firearms and knives collected from the streets of Manchester UK tourand promotes an anti-violence stance.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) and the British Ironwork Centre collaborated on the project and it is the first to be made of guns and knives.

All the weapons were collected as part of GMP’s ‘Forever Amnesty’ where people were encouraged to surrender their dangerous weapons.

Insp Rich Field from Redditch SNT said: “The campaign is to ensure people understand the consequences of carrying a knife, and the impact that can have on families and the victims themselves.

“It’s about creating a conversation, and making areas like Woodrow aware of the anti-knife crime message.”

Coun Andy Roberts, cabinet member for children and families at Worcestershire County Council said: “All children are vulnerable to child exploitation.

“Any child can be exploited no matter what culture, ethnicity, religion, age, regardless of gender or sexuality and from any background.

“We are working across services to ensure the public and professionals can identify the indicators of child exploitation and know how to report it and how to access information and support.”
