Appeal after car driver knocks over Redditch schoolgirl and then drives off

Redditch Editorial 26th Mar, 2018 Updated: 26th Mar, 2018   0

POLICE are appealing for information after a girl was knocked down by a car on Feckenham Road, Redditch, on Friday March 16.

The girl was walking near Walkwood Middle School at about 8.45am, when a car pulled in to a driveway then reversed out again, knocking her to the ground.

The driver of the car then shouted at her to get out of the way, while she was on the ground.

She got up and the car drove away down the road.

The car is described as being white with a large, distinctive, purple and green sticker on the bonnet.

The driver is described only as being a white man with dark hair.

Constable Danny Somner, a police officer in Redditch, said: “Fortunately the girl was not seriously hurt and didn’t require hospital treatment, but she was very shaken and upset.

“We do not believe the car or its driver are known to the people whose drive it pulled in and out of – it was just turning round – so we’re now appealing to the wider public in that area for more information.”

If you know about this incident or may be able to identify the car, please phone 101 and give incident reference number 0553S of 16 March 2018. You can also report information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers by phoning 0800 555 111 or visiting crimestoppers-uk.org.
